[iPAQ] Help with a 3970

I have read through the wiki doc and I have been having problems trying to
reset my iPaq to use ppc.
I bought it with Opie on it so I do not have a backup image.... but I still
have the boot loader...
I have tried the way with splitting the image and doing that with no
success... I think because this has a larger rom area?????
then I tried it with just the h3970_image.gz.....
this kind of worked.... it loaded and when I reboot I get past the ipaq
screen but then it just freezes on a white screen????
do I need that asset_img.gz also????
 
any help would be appreciated..... and sorry for being annoying...
