[iPAQ] IPAQ 5550 hanging during bootup

Hello,

I finally managed to create a root filesystem based on opie-image
(machine setting: "h3900", distro setting: "familiar")

I flashed it on my HP IPAQ 5550, but it regrettably hangs during bootup.
After entering "boot" at the bootloader prompt, I get the following
output:

The backlight of the LCD remains off, shortly after that message I can
however see the penguin in the upper left corner. After that, nothing
happens anymore - and I don't get any more messages over the serial
line.

Is there any chance to get my IPAQ to tell me more about what's going
wrong? Or perhaps someone on the list already has an idea what could be
wrong?

Bye,
Oliver
