[iPAQ] Unable to restore WinCE

I have an iPAQ 3955. Wanted to experiment with Opie so loaded the latest
release, plus 2.21.12 bootloader. 3 WinCE files were backed up and saved
to my Windows XP PC, including :

asset_image.gz
saved_bootldr.gz
wince_images.gz

As much as I loved the Opie interface, I sorely missed the ability to sync
with my PIM, Outlook, so I decided to restore WinCE. When I attempt to
reload wince_image.gz, I get an error message on the console about not
enough memory, and the iPAQ goes dead after the "Disable LCD" message. It
is not a brick, as I am able to reset it and get the bootloader, and I can
restore Opie. I really need to restore CE as I can't live without my
calendar and contacts.

Any help or assistance would be very gratefully appreciated.
