Anyone who can offer assistance would make my day. The IPAQ 5550 start
continuously buzzing after adding power to it. I've tried a hard and soft
reset. I've tried leaving the battery out for awhile, then retrying to
reset it. I've also tried to get anything from the Hyperterm and I've
gotten nothing. No boot prompt, no bootloader loading... anything I can do?
Thank you in advance.

I have a 3970 I loaded with linux. I can't get it to go back because my
backup keeps failing. I would like to put 2003 on there instead is that
possible, if so what steps should I follow?

It got through the ymodem upload and then erased the flash and programmed the new flash nearly all the way through and then rebooted before I had a chance to do anything. The Boot loader was 2.20.something The unit has no display, I have reset it several times now and it still does not respond, however the PC can see a USB device trying to connect, so I guess there is some base level of connectivity. I actually waited until I got my new battery so that I didn't have any issues in the upload etc, and now I have bricked it.!! Any suggestions on how I may be able to unbrick the unit? All suggestions appreciated. If it was "load root", the situation should be recoverable. Only "load bootldr" has the potential to make a brick. Have you tried resetting with the action button held down? p. on Wed, Oct 06, 2004 at 08:45:20AM +1000, Peter Sutcliffe wrote: > Trying to follow the instructions at > http://www.handhelds.org/z/wiki/Restoring%20Windows%20CE%20from%20the%20Comp > aq%20iPAQ%20Update for restoring from a Compaq rom update. > > It got through the ymodem upload and then erased the flash and programmed > the new flash nearly all the way through and then rebooted before I had a > chance to do anything.
