If you'd left it for a year with the main power switch turned off, it
would probably have been OK. But, if it was turned on for all that
time, the battery is most likely toast. They don't enjoy being deeply
discharged at all.
You can usually find replacement batteries on ebay, and they're not hard
to fit. But, sadly, it might well be more economic just to toss the
h3600 and trade up to a more modern device.
