Well, if you need to apply Linux RTAI on iPAQs, I'd first get the
sources of stable kernel version from Familiar. If it's a 2.4.x kernel
version, it should be pretty close to applying an arm (rmk) patch to a
vanilla kernel.
Then, you would need to find and apply a corresponding RTAI patch
matching your kernel version.

I hope there will be no conflicts. You have to try to figure out whether
both patches make changes on the same files. I haven't heard of combined
patches, but I'm not very experienced in this topic.
I hope other users have experience to share with you. By the way, did
you search our mailing list archives ("rtai ipaq site:handhelds.org" in
Google)? It seems this is not the first time this kind of question is
asked...
