I'm a proud owner of an iPaq h5555.

I follow the installation guide (

Everthing works in this iPaq, excepting for a couple of minor problems
(no support yet for external serial keyboards and no sound in
earphones).

Just follow the instructions from:
http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/releases/v0.7.2/install/

But, in this step:
http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/releases/v0.7.2/install/

Use the latest image from:
http://handhelds.org/~pb/unstable/
        
Choose:
http://handhelds.org/~pb/unstable/bootopie-v0.7.2+unstable16-h3900.jffs2
If you want a QT frame buffer instalation

Or choose:
http://handhelds.org/~pb/unstable/bootgpe2-v0.7.2+unstable16-h3900.jffs2
If you want a complete X11 based gnome enviroment.

Altought our ipaq are h55xx, installations for h39xx will work finely
since the architectures are similar (Intel XScale).
