I want to install Linux on my Dell Axim X5, and I have the active Sync as mentionned in instalation Linux in iPaq. Thanks for the info.
We all wish it would but sadly it is not.
Though the hardware seems to be identical or at least very similar most
PocketPC class devices are substantially different. Those, sometimes
even just minor, differences render the current kernel port useless.
And even worse most hardware vendors do *not* disclose hardware
information to enable the community to do a port.
So on the buttomline: You are stuck with *some* iPAQs, because not even
all iPAQs are supported.
Only longterm solution: Annoy your hardware vendor! Write emails,
question the support, write letters or do any other thing that make us
get heard, that Linux is wanted on those devices and they have to do
something.
Only if they know that there is interest in it and a potential market,
only then they will start to think about supporting Linux.
