Small point... it's actually Familiar 0.7.2, the
website links are there for future version numbers,
but they don't exist yet.

After the kernel is booted, the standard console is
disabled, so you won't see any output over the serial
link. So it's pretty hard to see if anything is
happening!

On the first boot, Familiar generates encryption keys
for the SSH server and does other housekeeping tasks.
This takes a LONG time so it may look as if the boot
process has stopped altogether.

The power button is only handled late on in the boot
sequence, at the point where the sshd keys are
generated, pressing it will do nothing.

You could enable the serial console to see what's
happening during the boot. If you go to the serial
bootloader prompt, then "show linuxargs" will tell you
the kernel boot parameters. One of them would say
"console=none". Type "set linuxargs=" and copy and
paste the whole line, but change the console from
"none" to the serial port device name for a 5550. I
don't remember it(!), but it's sure to be mentioned in
a recent post on the mailing lists.

No worries,
Andrew.
