[iPAQ] ipaq 5550 there and back again

Hello all, I've installed Familiar on my ipaq 5550, but I've decided to
remove it due to its instability. Anyways, here's a brief roundup of my
impressions.
Good things:
- A lot of programs
- Landscape mode
- A decent browser
- Eye candy
Bad things:
- If I turn it off, it hangs
- Loses calibration every single time
- Wifi is a pain in the ass to work with

Anyways, I've decided to go back to wince, but now my ipaq does not turn
off anymore! If i press the off button it does a soft reset. Did this
happen to anybody? How do I fix it?
My guess is it's a matter of bootloader, possible?
