That sounds like an out-of-control log file or something similar. Tools
like find (using the -size test) and lsof. You may need to install the
full version of find (using ipkg's -force-overwrite option to overwrite
the busybox links) and you will need to install the supp package to get
lsof.

Presumably the file that's chewing up all that space gets deleted
sometimes. Is there any discernible pattern to when this happens? If
so, running find to search for files over 10MB or so shortly before the
freeing up is due might track down the culprit.
