If by "my pc's gateway address" you mean you copied the address of the machine
that the PC uses as a gateway to the iPAQ, then this will definitely not
work. The iPAQ's gateway IS the PC.
You will have to set up the PC to do forwarding and SNAT or masqerading for
the iPAQ (don't ask me how to do this under Windoze -- I don't know and I
don't want to know).
