[iPAQ] H5555 backup

Hello,

I seem to be having some problems verifying the internal checksum for
the WinCE image of my iPaq H5555. The image size in .gz format is about
23.4Mb. When I run the gzip -tv command on this file, I get an
"Unexpected End Of File" error. The other two files (asset_image.gz and
saved_bootldr.gz) are ok. I tried to follow the process documented to
split up the wince_image, however I encounter the same "Unexpected End
Of File" error and am unable to complete.

I don't want to attempt the Linux installation without knowing that I
have a valid backup. I downloaded the h5500_image.gz file from the
handheld.org feeds site. Will this image properly reinstall PocketPC
should I need to return to Windows? Can it be used with the asset_image
and saved_bootldr files that I copied from my iPaq? Are there any
alternatives that I have missed when trying to save my own wince_image?

I'd appreciate any help/suggestions. I'm looking forward to installing
Linux on this PDA!
