Possible that it works, but the USB code prior to 2.4.0-test9 contained
quite some race conditions that can lock up the complete machine.
Besided from that, 2.4.0-test9 and up contain Rik van Riel's new memory
balancing stuff, which make the machine more responsive under high
loads.
BTW, all 2.4.0 kernels can Oops on block_read_full_page(), especially
if you log out from an X session which had a lot of xterms open. This
is currently being worked on. The workaround is to log out each xterm
separately and than close the X session.
