I'm using a iPAQ 3950 so it's not exactly the same hardware. I'm using Debian
and kernel version 2.4.20. I have hotplug installed. The relevant section of
/etc/network/interfaces looks like this:
iface usb0 inet static
address 192.168.0.200
netmask 255.255.255.240
On the iPAQ end I install the bootstrap jffs2 image then do this:
/etc/init.d/initd-usbnet start
Then hey-presto it all works. I haven't tried this with the OPIE jffs2 image
but I wouldn't expect it to be any different.
I reinstall my machine all the time from the jffs2 images and they don't
require any configuration so the problem is definitely at the PC end.
What kernel version are you using?
Anthony
