[iPAQ] installing java on the CF card

Hi, I am trying to install java1.3 on my CF card. I don't have enough
space left in RAM, only 2440 available, so I want to put java on my CF
card which have plenty of space, with 41907 available. The problem is
when I run:

ipkg -d ext install java1.3 with ext set to /mnt/hda/usr

I get the following error:

wget: write error: No space left on device
ipkg_download: ERROR: Command failed with return value 1: `wget
--passive-ftp -q -P /tmp/ipkg-Ha9Pah
http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/releases/v0.6.1/base/armv4l/java1.3_1.01-oxy2_arm.ipk'

ERROR: Failed to download java1.3. Perhaps you need to run `ipkg
update'?

Is ipkg trying to use the RAM even though I have told it to use the
CF card, I can't figure out why else I might be getting an out of space
error unless it is trying to download the file first to RAM and then
install it on the CF card.
