[iPAQ] Perl/CGI/Apache/mod_perl

Has anyone else found Perl (or any similar large app) to be fairly slow on
the IPaq? Something like perl -MPOSIX -e ';' takes about 6 seconds to
run. It's quite slow on the PC to start with, as you'd expect, because it
has to load an awful lot of stuff, but subsequent runs are much
faster, whereas there is no improvement on the IPaq. Is this a consequence
of a compressed file system?

Experimentation with CGIs and GoAhead wasn't very profitable due to the
speed problem, but I've built Apache with mod_perl, and it works quite
nicely, especially for applications that load lots of modules.

If anyone else has been playing with Perl I'd be interested to compare
notes.

Regards,

Ben
