[iPAQ] iPAQ Restoration Problem

To All,
 
I was testing the latest alpha Familiar release for the 3900 which was
dated 1/13/03. Everything was backed up and installed AOK to my 3955.
The boot process gave me an error when trying to install a kernel module
for sal00??? and then hung when attempting to start the gpe X-windows.
 
I decided to restore the original wince_image.gz. The xmodem download
occurs as expected but the verification process with the moving dots
......... continues without end. I gave up around 12 hours later. Is
there any reason why I can't just interrupt the verification and do,
>boot wince ?????
