Here's what i do to use the company proxy:
- iPaq with Linux (pitchou)
- desktop with Linux (sauron)
- ppp connection between both machines
- the desktop runs iptables (acts as a firewall) with IP masquerading for
pitchou
- on the iPaq, prior to ipkg'ing, i export the variable HTTP_PROXY that's
used by wget (ipkg uses wget)
export HTTP_PROXY="http://myname:mypwd@ip.of.my.proxy:port_of_my_proxy/"
- then I run ipkg
You can add the proxy setting in the ipkg.conf but i prefer not to do it,
since i sometimes use it at
home where there's no proxy (same config desktop+ipaq but with direct
internet connection).
For the internet disconnection, did you check the default gateway?
Hope it helps...
Laurent

Subject: RE: [iPAQ] After PPP connection
Hiˇˇ Again me.
I used SSH and now i can type the commands but now i have another
question.
When I type Ipkg update and press enter, the SSH said that:
Connecting to familiar.hanhelds.org:80... failed
The connection failed. Is there any problem if I try to connect in my
work if the company have proxy ?
And when I make the PPP connection my internet is disable.
What can I do to connect ?
Thanks ˇˇˇ
