[iPAQ] broken down battery?

It seems that my brand new iPAQ has had a battery failure. If I remove the
iPAQ from the cradle, it will run for like 1 hour and that's it. Now for
the questions: can you replace the battery by yourself? Does the warranty
apply here? Anything else I could try?
