[iPAQ] x screen refresh from console garbage

so when you've got console no longer redirected to serial, it trashes the
screen in x/opie with console output.
would there be a way to set up a dedicated xterm/shell that could instead
scroll said messages, rather than trashing the screen? thus making it
easier to look back and read them?
