An excellent way to ease into iPAQ development is to use PyGTK and other
toolkits. If you use Python/GTK, then you can even run the exact same
program on both your desktop and your iPAQ. Pretty nifty. =)
Many of the tools you use to develop desktop applications can be used to
develop iPAQ applications as well. You can, for example, write C applications
that use GTK or Xlib calls. You can develop it on your desktop, then recompile
it for the iPAQ.
Just keep in mind the different user interfaces you'll need. For example,
PDAs have much smaller screen sizes, so you need to plan your layout well.
Provide drop-down choices wherever appropriate, and make it easy for people
to enter and retrieve data quickly.
