[iPAQ] The Newbie Can't get the iPAQ 3835 to ping, X win yet to work, and unable to reboot to WINCE

From: Paul A. Ottens <pao5.a.t.earthlink.net>
Date: Wed Jul 17 2002 - 10:54:52 EDT

Using Compaq OHH BootLoader, Rev 2-18-1 I last loaded Familiar v0.5.3
task-bootserial.jffs2. as instructed in
http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/releases/v0.5.3/install/H3600/ins
tall.html#components

I loaded the latest Bahia_Network_Driver, the new BND release 0.9.2,
dated 6/1/2002
on to two separate PCs, it "seems" to be working, see attached
"devices.jpg"

I execute the following script: (also tried 192.168.0.2, and others).
            modprobe usb-eth
            ifconfig usbf 192.168.000.007 netmask 255.255.255.0
            route add default gw 192.168.0.1
            echo "nameserver 207.217.077.082" > /etc/resolv.conf

I still have not been able to ping from the PC to the iPAQ
                    $ping 192.168.0.7
Pinging 192.168.0.7 with 32 bytes of data:

or from the iPAQ 3835 to the PC
                    # ping 192.168.0.1

or net.
                    # ping 207.217.077.082
                    ping: unknown host 207.217.077.082

I loaded the modules dependent on and including task-x_0.3_arm.ipk by
hand
since I can't ping. I get a blank screen and a touch sensitive, movable
cursor.

My backups of the wince_image.gz that are on my PC unzip and gunzip (on
the iPAQ)
with "Error: unexpected end of file encountered."

Although I backed up the wince image to an SD card I haven't a clue as
to how to get it
and reboot with it.

Please help. Below are the reboot messages.

Regards,
Paul
