As someone who's only recently started developing X11 (well GTK
really) apps on my Ipaq, i can say it's reasonably trivial in
my experience. The biggest issue you will have is how to tailor
your application for the tiny small screen size. Apart from that,
the other major hurdles is that the familiar distro doesn't provide
libXaw, so you need to really decide what toolkit you're going
to use. GTK seems to be well supported. If your application
is based on Solaris/X11 with GTK, i see no issues (so far).
Xaw and other libs can be compiled, but the issue is space and
making leaner libraries. Lot of the libs have extreme bloat. Infact
i remember someone asking if we could have a distro libc based on
dietlibc (http://www.fefe.de/dietlibc) here recently... Dunno
what come of it.

Cheers

Hi all,

I have a small application that I have developed for Solaris/X11 and would
like to make it work on an iPaq 3800 with a Linux installation. What steps
need to be done ? How difficult should the porting of an application from
X11 to tinyX be ? Any recommended development environment ?

Thanks
