[iPAQ] restore wince problem

Hi there I wonder if anyone can help me here, I have a Ipaq 3870, used
bootblaster 1.18 and bootldr 2.18.01.bin

Tried to load linux which worked ( mostly) couldnt get usb to work, but
decided to try and restore Wince just to see if it would.

Followed the instructions , xmodemed the wince_image.gz to the Ipaq which
was successful, but the bootloaded identified the file as a .gz and started
to verify It. This entailed drawing dots all over the screen. Left it
running for 40 mins and decided something was wrong. rebooted ipaq and it
started to comeup in familiar again. Tried the download again. same
happened. I an unable to break out of the process using ctl c or break or
using the terminal break (Terminal is Terraterm)

Anyone got any ideas
