First I'd like to say Wow what a fantastic community ipaq-familiar is. I've
never been let down.
I'm pretty much an end user, writing a very basic script was new to me a
year ago, and remains a mystery(no C.)
The stripped down familiar is very helpful for learning where essential
things are kept.*
but have not yet tried intimate, or opie(properly), due to the slight
technical problems.
All the following, are a personal(but also with end-users in mind)
consideration of what task-familiar should include:
Sound record button to work.
4 buttons to do something, with a clear howto(or gui) to change.
ipkg to check for space before installing
opie and intimate to be in menu, with trivially easy means to switch
between. (intimate to report no cf card, or no 2Gb)
man pages for familiar, yes i do write up wiki pages, and can with help try
a few man pages if needed.
dual-boot with pc2002 (this is a personal perspective, i work on
accessibility, and need an easy means to check websites on a variety of kit)
This list has been added to: http://www.handhelds.org/z/wiki/LittleToDos
This has been one of the best learning experiences, i've had, with very many
unknown and positive outcomes.
Congratulations
Thanks again

Familiar will be back, as soon as I can debrief the free kit at pc2002, and
get a new (wireless?) LAN up, not too long.
*I'm a teacher of people with severe learning difficulties, including Down's
Syndrome. and manage a web-directory for non-readers.
I've been strongly encouraged to try debian, my adsl connection is currently
alcatel-speedtouch-USB only and this leads to some very particular
issues.....
