Hmm ... I have no problem installing the bootloader and Linux on iPaqs. I would even offer this as commercial service via our company. The only problem I see is that I don't know of any statement by Compaq/HP about warrenty when Linux is used on their devices.
Currently everything has been handled IMHO very well and on a "friendly" basis, i.e. without any legal regulation. But basing a small business on such a service without an explicit statement by Compaq/HP I have my problems with it...
