RE: [iPAQ] How to format MMC to ext3 file system?

I have formatted my 64MB MMC card to ext3 then to ext2. The numbers that you see flying past the screen are actually the block(?) that it is formatting at the time. If you pause the display in serial console you will notice that the number changes slightly. This process takes forever and a day at this point. Both formats took several hours. The "error messages" that you get are not messages but rather progress reports. And the card is not fried, just do it again, with the ipaq plugged in, and be very very patient. The card will work with whichever file system you choose. Mine is current on ext2 and works fine. But file copies take forever.

Andrew,

Actually, when I tried to format the mmc with
mksf.ext3 /dev/mmc/part1
the console repeats with some numbers and messages,
which is too fast that I cannot read. It appears
repeating the same message.

Joe,

I will try to get a card reader to find out if the
card is still usable.
Guess, there is no way to format the MMC to a
different file system at this moment.

Many thanks any way,
Jerry
