Didn't mean to send a private message... Here it is again for the group:

I'm having the same problem, but the fix below doesn't work. I put the
params file in /boot for both familiar and intimate and in / for both.
Still only boots to familiar without changing linuxargs manually before
booting. I'm considering renaming linuxrc.intimate to linuxrc and leave the
params alone, but I don't know what effect this will have.
