According to http://www.targus.com/product_details.asp?sku=PA840U, "the adapter (and drivers) required to support iPAQ series 3800 PDA's are now available). The adapter is also available through Customer Service (1-877-4-Targus), reference part number 520-0015-001."
So at a minimum I would think you need the adapter. But I have no first-hand experience, so take this with $.02 worth of salt.

Subject: [iPAQ] Re: Compaq 3800 keyboard.
according to this page:
http://www.compaq.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/options/keyboards.html
the 3800 series only works with the foldaway, not the stowaway design.
(i've been supplied a foldaway)
Please could someone clarify this issue.
Does the stowaway definitely work with a 3850?
thanks again
jonathan
