Well, you could either try this, or wait till I tried it, but I've to
compile a kernel befor I can go on ...

start to type

e.g. the new stowaway driver uses the inputcore system, all you have to
do is to look the serial port (open it exclusively, e.g. by cat).

if this failes, be sure that you don't have
- a getty
- a console
on the serial port (e.g. check your linux args in /boot/params

# cat /boot/params
set linuxargs "noinitrd root=/dev/mtdblock1 init=/linuxrc"

this apperas to be a working version (taken from my outdated 3630 with
an old version of unstable)
