[iPAQ] ipkg can't update!!!!!!

Hello all,

I have been working for two days to get ipkg to update it's feed lists and have been completely unsuccessful.

If my ipkg.conf file contains a text URL, the name isn't being resolved properly, but if I supply the numeric URL, everything is fine.

eg:
http://familiar.handhelds.org:80/familiar/releases/v0.5.2/packages/armv4l
results in
Connecting to familiar.handhelds.org:80...
familiar.handhelds.org: Host not found.
ipkg_download: ERROR: Command failed with return value 1: `wget --passive-ftp -nd -P /tmp/ipkg-emXSRc http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/releases/v0.5.2/packages/armv4l/Packages'

while
http://192.58.209.91/familiar/releases/v0.5.2/packages/armv4l
resolves properly.

This isn't a problem for most feeds, but it prohibits me from connecting to certain feeds like Opie.
(Pinging opie.handhelds.org will return the same ip as www.handhelds.org, but the webserver is redirecting internally to a virtual directory).

I have a PPP connection between my RedHat 7.2 system and my Ipaq 3835 (Familiar 2.4.18), and have followed the instructions on Carl Worth's IPMasq HowTo.

HOW DO I GET MY NAME RESOLUTION TO WORK?
