Re: [iPAQ] 3635 for $270? What's with this?

So, I happen to work for Compaq, but I don't have any insider-type
information. But this pricing seems pretty logical to me since the 3600s
are no longer listed on compaq.com (commercial or consumer). I think it's a
"sell this thing while we still can" situation. 3700 replaced 3600 (more or
less the same hardware, but 3700 has newer OS). When 3900s come out, you'll
see the same effect on pricing for 3700s and 3800s if the 3900 replaces one
or both. (Sorry, I don't have any info on that, and even if I did I
couldn't tell you. :)

If you wait long enough, you'll be able to get a 4000 (or whatever's after
3900) for $200 or less...... ;)

Subject: [iPAQ] 3635 for $270? What's with this?

Hello,

I just got the latest TigerDirect catalog and they've got H3635's for $269.
I'm shocked, only a month or so ago the cheapest I could find was ~$500.

Is this a going-out-of-stock,-get-one-NOW sort of thing, or has the price
simply come down?

If the price is down in general and I'll be able to get a 37* or 38* for the
same price several months from now (when the 39*s are out ;-), I'll just
wait
(I don't mind waiting at all).

But if this is a (not likely to be repeated) liquidation sale I'm not going
to
pass it up - what do you think?
