It's not entirely true that the iPAQ can only see one button at a time...
just mostly true.
Most of the buttons on the iPAQ are a set of switches and resistors
connected to an A/D converter. When a button is pressed, the voltage
changes, and the iPAQ works out which button was pressed.
There are a couple of exceptions however. The D-Pad centre button, and the
Power button are both connected independently, and can be chorded with any
other button(s). The Power button is under software control, and can be set
to either turn the iPAQ off, or act as a normal keystroke. Aditionally,
the touchscreen can be tapped as a button if really needed.
Keys for Doom.
Up -> Up
Down -> Down
Left -> Left
Right -> Right
Strafe -> D-Pad Centre
Fire -> Power Button..
You can run... you can dodge bullets and you can shoot... what more could
you ask for ;)
