Dear Sir / Madam

I am writing to enquire about Pocket Linux installation problem of Compaq
iPaq H3630.

I am having a college project in the Oulu Polytechnic where our work group
needed to install Pocket Linux to iPaq. We followed the Bootloader 2.18.01
installation instructions in the Handhelds.org website and we made that
success. We got the Penguin on the iPaqs screen after reboot. We made X
modem connection to iPaq by using Hyper Terminal program. Before the Pocket
Linux installation we freed flash memory 0x400000 to 0xffff. Then gave
following commands to iPaq partition reset and load root.

Next we started to install Pocket Linux by following Pocket Linux
instructions. We uploaded following files to iPaq:
        1. load kernel (xImage) -> erasing, writing and verifying ok
        2. load flash 0x100000 (init.cramfs) -> erasing, writing and
verifying ok
        3. load flash 0x200000 (root.cramfs) -> erasing, writing and
verifying ok
        4. load flash 0x500000 (usr.cramfs) -> erasing, writing and
verifying ok
        5. load flash 0xd00000 (media.large.cramfs) we have 32MB RAM ->
erasing, writing ok but during verifying we got following text:
        ...
        DABT
        0000540C
        51000000

After that iPaq made beep voice and screen went dark. Also workstation
windows system did not response. We try to reboot iPaq but it is not
responding and looks that it is death. During installation process we kept
temperature of iPaq low and loader was connected.

We reboot the workstation also and try to make X modem connection again to
iPaq by using Hyper Terminal. Hyper Terminal responses during connection
process that "unable to connect COM1". Without iPaq Hyper Terminal does not
complain anything from connection (when wire is on the air).

Is there any hope to continue Pocket Linux installation or somehow get iPaq
back to live?

Yours faithfully,
