Using XP Pro, it responds with a "Found new hardware" specifying "SA1100 USB
NIC" and requests a driver. Needless to say, the Wizard is unable to be
helpful.

No - because we are an arm-linux unknown NIC and not running an example one
of the last
remaining threads of CE development with ActiveSync hoping for a serial
converter slave!
