yes, several people including myself have done so. The key is selecting the
tools used to build the xcross toolchain as well as the parts that make up
the 3.0.3 toolchain.
I would suggest that you just use a pre-built 2.95.x toolchain unless you
have a specific technical reason for using 3.0.3.
