[iPAQ] evil qpe-ppp

Hi!

After installing the qpe-ppp IPKG, I no longer had a serial connection
to my iPAQ, since the package modified /inittab in a way that ppp is
started after booting.

So I uninstalled qpe-ppp (with qpe-konsole) which made things even
worse, since the modification of /inittab is not performed as some
postinstall script, but rather overwrites (!) the file with its own one,
and so it gets removed completely when qpe-ppp is uninstalled. This is
a really bad thing, since while booting I get asked

INIT: version 2.78 booting
INIT: No inittab file found

Enter runlevel:

and there is no number which leads to a login prompt.

So how can I get to a prompt so that I can send a /inittab file to the
iPAQ? Help really needed.

Thank you in advance,
Markus
