[iPAQ] Handwriting recognition papers/algos?

I am currently working on a project for school
involving handwriting recognition algorithms. Does
anyone out there know where I can download white
papers or (open source) algorithms for handwriting
recognition? I've taken a look at the algorithm
within Qtopia (QPE) but would also like to evaluate
other algorithms and read some white papers on the
subject. Any URLs you could pass on would be GREATLY
appreciated!!!
