Still haven't tried one in the ipaq but I have some more info for
those looking into them. First off they are made by Z-Com and are
actually their XI-300 model as far as I can decern. I was having a
lot of trouble getting them to talk to my belkin card using the
latest proxim drivers version 1.0.3. When I found who made them and
checked their site they not only had newer drivers, 3.0.0, but also a
firmware upgrade. Since they are of no use to me if they all can't
talk to each other I went ahead and tried the firmware upgrade along
with the new drivers and it worked great. Don't know if this will
make they better or worse under linux, haven't tried that yet either.
There is another "feature" of these cards that will effect their use
in the ipaq. The guides on the end of the card are thicker than a
normal type II pc card. I believe that these are type III rails. My
laptop has both a single type II slot and a dual type II / single
type III slot and it will only fit the bottom of the dual slot which
is the type III section. I don't have any idea why they did this as
they are type II thickness. The antenna bulge is thicker than a type
II slot but that is totally outside the slot. I am going to take one
and grind down the rail to see if there is any other reason that it
has to be in a type II slot. I will post my results.
