[iPAQ] familiar/qpe iPAQ with Qtopiadesktop

I realize this might be better placed on one of the qpe lists,
but I've had no repsonse from a posting there, so here goes
with a couple of questions:

(Setup is 3630, familiar 0.5 + Bipolar's qpe feeds. The iPAQ
networking is fine Linux<-> Linux with ssh, rsync etc all working.)

1) Qtopiadesktop on Linux - RH7.2 segfaults, how do I fix?

When I attempt to run the qtopiadesktop on a RH7.2 linux box it segfaults
on startup, either with qt3 libraries built from source or with
qt3 libraries from rpms picked up on the linux-easy.com site.

2) Qtopiadesktop on winXP has trouble hooking up, anyone seen this?

The only way I can get my iPAQ
to sync over a serial connection with
the Qtopia desktop running under winXP is
to have the iPAQ suspended, start the Qtopia desktop sync request,
and bring the iPAQ back from suspend. Otherwise the iPAQ refuses
to pick up the connection.

In addition, the desktop repeatedly crashes in XP unless it is run
in NT4 compatibility mode (doesn't seem to like 98 or Win2K compatibility
mode).

3) Can anyone tell me how to get a serial sync
with qtopiadesktop up and running in win98?
