Ah-hah! That, somehow, was the bit I missed -- the fact that there are,
in fact, scripts executed at suspension and resumption. If those
solutions actually work (and I gather they do), then I have a solution
for both my networking AND my keyboard complaints.

Wonder how I kept missing that...
