You can make this switchable by using the "levels" of init, for example the
following lines in inittab work on my 3765 with fam 0.5 and qpe

T0:23:respawn:/sbin/getty -L ttySA0 115200 vt100
ST:4:once:modprobe h3600_stowaway

and then init 4 stops getty and loads the stowaway module
and init 3 restarts getty if required

you need to open the stowaway port before the keyboard will work
cat /dev/stowaway &
works

I'm sure there are more elegant ways of taking this forward, but this works.
I have in mind to write a simple qpe/x utility which would do the init and
cat or equivalent stuff from the menu system; but that requires time!!!!

One day........, in the meantime I'll put up with the above

This is related to the power status/sequencing of the stowaway. There are
some comments in the stowaway kernel module code which explain why the
stowaway needs the port reopening after suspension.
