The module mentioned has been ported to the SA1100 CPU. I've successfully
used LIRC on a iPAQ 36x0 (don't remember the exact model number) a while
ago (usual limitations using CIR over IrDA hardware apply...). This was in
the very early 2.4 stages, so I don't know if it still works with current
kernel versions.
BTW, I get requests for a ARM binary release of LIRC from time to time. I
wonder if somebody could make a ipkg of the package. A Debian package
already exists, so you probably wouldn't have to begin from scratch. Now
that the driver comes with the kernel it shouldn't be much of a problem
anymore.
