i was considering a very similar thing too, ie. xstroke-pie menu.
you can check my java implementation of the concept i made some
time ago at
http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~ashida/qw/index.html
the bottom of the page is actually a java applet in which you can
use mouse button to activate the (key input) menu.
