Hi All,

I'm having a bit of trouble with a familiar+pocketlinux install that
I hope someone could shed some light on before I go taking shts in the
dark to fix. The hdwe is iPAQ 3635 with familiar 0.5, kernel is
zImage-2.4.7-rmk3-np1-devfs with just the bootstrap install (no X) and
the pocketlinux 1.0 ipk was installed. I added "devfs=nomount" to the
boot linuxargs. It boots and runs great (via serial connection) before i
start /etc/init.d/pocketlinux. When I do start it, it starts up very
slowly. It takes several minutes to get past the splash screen to the
icon screen. During this time, it (kaffe) uses 95%+ of the CPU and
gradually ramps up to about 49% memory usage (both according to ps).
Once I do get to the icon screen, I get no response from the touchscreen
- it's like it's just a background image. However, the touchscreen
device works because if I `cat /dev/ts`, I see output when I tap the
screen. The CPU util remains high for 15-20 minutes, finally coming down
to about 19%, which still seems pretty high.

The kaffe process is running as -

root 7728 96.9 48.7 20036 15000 ? S 15:32 0:51
/opt/tvt/bin/kaffe -Dawt.MinBox null \ -Dawt.RootWindowImg
/opt/tvt/share/pocketlinux/bkg_land.jpg -Dawt.ControlBox null \
com.pocketlinux.engine.Main /opt/tvt/share/pocketlinux/XMLRoot

Anyone else have a problem like this? Is the problem the kernel release
or do I need to rebuild pocketlinux, instead of using the ipk?

Thanks,
Mark

PS - ok - now it's even wierder. As I was writing this email, I was
playing with it. Now the touchscreen is working - sort of. It's still
very flaky. Help??
