I am very interested in trying your Linux version for the Ipaq but I am
wondering what you done with the usage of resetting the device, soft reset.
Does the current image contain something like XDM for graphical logon,
select your logon name from the list and then write in the text recognition
square for validation and then your desktop starts? What if you want to
have root access to do something special and don't want to use "su". How
can you logging in and out without using a terminal program on a PC? Also
what is your projected status until you have a backup feature for the old
WinCE system? I was trying to decide on a handheld, I wanted the IPAQ but I
wanted the choice of Linux for my X programs, now that you have something
going this is the device for me!
Also why can't you use the USB in the cradle? If you have Linux on the
desktop side the USB devices can emulate a serial connection why can you not
using the USB device drivers to connect the handheld as a storage device and
sync and shuffle files? I guess my real question is was can you not use the
"slave" USB connection on the device?
Thanks, Great work in the small amount of time you have been given, I am
really impressed and would love to help put my Linux programming skills are
still at the beginner stage :-(. But I love what you have done and hope you
are close to a "official" release that has power management that works with
the device and all elements can be managed via the pen I.E cut out the
terminal for the keyboard input.
Great work I'll be back with my Ipaq! --Hey that rhymes :-) --
