[iPAQ] from here to San Jose

I'm worried about getting from here to San Jose (~8 hours) without
losing my iPaq memory's contents. The CE software can keep it on idle
for days. How do I get Linux to be that thrifty? Is there a way for
me to tell it to shut down the digitizer? The LCD driver?

It would also be very nice to be able to xload Tux.
