[iPAQ] status of WinCE backup?

I'd like to be able to put WinCE back on my iPAQ after installing Linux. What's the status of this?

I've checked out osloader, compiled it (with MS embedded visual tools 3, which had to convert the project files, so I guess you are using something different), and ran it.

I got 4 files totalling 16MB and a warning dialog that said the program doesn't work...

So do I have a valid backup now that I can put back on or not?

Additionally, I'm asking myself: How exactly will I get WinCE back into the Flash ROM once I'm running Linux?

Some other things:
1) The installation howto speaks of "bootldr-0000-2.8.3", but it seems to really be named "bootldr-000-2.8.3" (not insurmountable, ok, but I get a bit nervous with documents that tell me at their beginnings that I can completely screw up my new toy with this ... ;-)

2) how will I install newer versions of the kernel/ramdisk? just get into the boolader and repeat steps 15+ ?
