Here's the scoop:

We have NO IDEA whatsoever what the difference between the model numbers
signifies... As far as we've been able to make out, they are the same
(we've picked up some of each recently). One of the great mysteries of
the universe, I guess...

They might signify whether they are through an indirect channel or not,
but we aren't even sure about that.

If I were you, I'd hold onto the one you have, and not take it back: they
are very hard to come by. An iPAQ in hand is worth 10 in the bush right
now.

Unfortunately, what comes with it is a USB cradle, and serial cables are
hard to come by: in the handhelds.org area is a HowTo to hack a cradle
to be both serial and USB (if done carefully). We're working on other
solutions to help the serial cable problem we hope to be able to tell
people about soon...
